Veterinary Animal Health Manager
Roxy Winstanley from Liverpool is a Veterinary animal health manager and bikini model athlete.
A gymnast from the age of 3 to 16, Roxy represented Great Britain on numerous occasions. Roxy has not always been the picture of health she is today and during university, Roxy developed a serious eating disorder that resulted in hospitalisation.
At the point of being in hospital, she was taking anywhere between 15 – 20 laxatives a day. Being told if she didn’t stop taking them she would have a colostomy bag is pretty hard to hear at 22. It was the wake up call she needed and from then on she started the long process of recovery.
Roxy started weight training around 18 months after being inspired at BodyPower 2013. Since then she has managed to completely change her body, becoming stronger, fitter and healthier.
An eating disorder never truly goes away, but through training and dieting properly Roxy has a better control over it. Roxy has competed in three bikini competitions since and has placed 7th, 5th and 3rd – which coming from the size 4, 6 ½ stone body is an achievement that brings Roxy immense pride.

“I don’t want people to copy what I did, with the lack of food, the laxatives etc; instead I want people to copy what I did next. I want people to be inspired that if I can do it, a normal girl from Liverpool, then they can to. I want to inspire people.”
